Amika flat iron.....................................

My girlfriend Stacy recently got a Amika flat iron and is LOVING it. She has very curly hair and this flat iron is definitely the truth because it looks like she got a perm after she uses it. Of course there are plenty of other options but if you have very thick hair you might want to look into an Amika.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support once again. This month was fun. We didn't have any Stylist of the Month but we met two very talented young ladies, Makeup Artist Mary Negron and Nail Artist Ms. Kreative Kay. Organic Root Edge Control..........................................................

We all know our edges can be stubborn from time to time. My bestie called me the other day and went H.A.M for Organic Root's Edge Control so of course I had to get it and it was every thing she said it was. Not too greasy or shiny (like when JAM makes your forehead look like someone just fried a egg on it) and long lasting. I usually use Luster's slick stick but it can leave a pasty look on your edges, especially when it's hot. So I recommend it for now and will still have to test it out on a hot NYC summer day. Thanks for the info Nay!

I just came back from my appointment and let me just say that I LOVE Ms. KreativeKay's work. She was very professional, friendly and even taught us a few things about nails. I learned a new word (dayum I already forgot it) so needless to say I will definitely be going back! Here's what me, mini me & lil sis got done........

I've been hearing about how fierce Mary is for the past two weeks so I had to see what she was all about for myself. Mary is a makeup artist and also does her own photo shoots. She is definitely at the top of her game. See her  interview and pics of her work below..................

Oufancy: What is the most important step we should take before applying makeup?

Mary: The MOST important thing you can do before applying your makeup is MOISTURIZE!!!  I cannot stress this enough!!! There is nothing worse than applying foundation to dry, dehydrated skin. So you say you have oily skin and don't need it. I say, YOU COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG!!! Ask yourself, why is my skin so oily and why am I prone to breakouts?  If you're NOT moisturizing, the reason is most likely your skin is trying to overcompensate for being dry by pushing out all the oils it can spare to hydrate your skin , therefore, causing breakouts!! Think about it, makes sense, huh?? Once you find the right moisturizer for your skin type, (oily, dry, combination) you will within a week see a VAST IMPROVEMENT!!! Trust me.

Oufancy: Would you recommend using drug store makeup?

Mary: I absolutely, positively do endorse the use of drug store cosmetics!! Drug store brands have totally stepped up their game as far as I'm concerned.  Any look I do on a daily basis can be achieved using cheaper brands. Yes, a drugstore brand may not contain as much pigment in it's shadows as, say, MAC or Urban Decay and may require you to blend your shadow with a little more "work", but, beautiful looks can be achieved with practice. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to afford the higher end brands. But, there is no reason one can't be just as beautiful in Cover Girl and Maybelline Cosmetics!  I recommend trying brands such as Iman or Sonia Kashuk, which can both be purchased at Target and other stores at VERY reasonable prices.  (Sonia Kashuk brushes are my absolute favorite!!)

Silk Elements heat protection spray..........................

I got my hair did this weekend and the Stylist used Silk Element's heat protection spray. I really liked it because it smelled nice and it wasn't oily. My hair is very thin and naturally oily so I don't like for it to be weighed down. It comes in two different options original or olive. It's very important to use some type of heat protection  spray so if you choose not to purchase this one please find one that better suits your hair. I'm just trying to help you out ; )

NYX Cosmetics All I've Ever Wanted Box................................

So every body knows I'm a YouTube fiend, you learn so many things on there (promise). I watch a lot of hair and makeup tutorials and I always hear people mentioning NYX so I  went ahead and bought their All I've Ever wanted Box. Hun let me tell you......it's all I've ever wanted (I know I'm so corny lol). No but for real it has 72 eye shadows, 8 face colors, 6 lip colors, 4 blushes and 1 face powder. The only bad thing is that the face powder is a bit light. I just use it for my dark circles but it might be slightly off on my entire face. NYX is the cheaper alternative to MAC. I must say after using both brands, NYX products are just as good. The pigment of the eye shadows are perfect. I love the blushes and the bronzer  has a nice glow to it. I'm not being paid at all to say this................BUY IT GIRL! It's only $28.00 you can thank me later!
