Do We Always Get What We Pay For??...........................

Happy New Year! You may or may not know that I've been natural for almost a year now. Dealing with my natural texture has def been a learning experience. The key to maintaining natural hair is moisture (& patience of course). So I'm constantly looking for the next best oil, conditioner, daily moisturizer etc. I've tried so many products in the last year and have been pleasantly surprised with the lower end products.

We tend to be a society that equates price with quality, which isn't always the case. I compared the three products below and the most expensive product actually gave me the least amount of results. I can safely say that I will never purchase it again.

Aussie's 3 Min Miracle $4-$5, Miss Jessie's Creme De La Creme $16.00 & VO5's Balancing Conditioner $.99

I co- wash my hair everyday when it's curly and shampoo & deep condition it once a week (yes I'm still a shampoo girl). Let's start off with Miss Jessie's Creme De La Creme......it smells great, other than that there's really nothing else to rave about. I picked it up during my weekly trip to my local beauty supply. Luckily they were having a half off sale because if I paid full price for this product I would have had a BF. I actually ended up using my 3 Minute Miracle after to restore some softness to my hair. I have no complaints about the 3 Minute Miracle. I absolutely love it. It gives my hair amazing slip. If I deep condition, I'll leave it on for about 20 mins and I can literally detangle with my fingers instead of a comb. Now onto the VO5 Balancing Conditioner......I must say out of the three products this conditioner is the best. You would think for $0.99 you shouldn't expect much from it. I remember seeing my Mom use VO5 as a little girl and I definitely understand why. Please keep in mind that these results are based on my hair texture and your results may vary. I just wanted to show you guys that you don't always have to spend tons of money to get the results you're looking for. If you've tried or plan to try any of these products let me know what you think! XOXO

My Natural Hair Journey...........................

Hey good people!!! Yes I know it's been a while #dontjudgeme. We'll catch up on all the other stuff but I wanted to update you on my hair. You may or may not know that I decided to go natural and it's been 9 months since I've been off the creamy crack. It hasn't been easy and I almost relapsed a few times (several times) but I think I'm good now.

My reasons for going natural were simply because
1) my hair was very thin and unhealthy &
2) my perm was controlling my life i.e. no sweating which meant no workouts, no swimming or any activities that involved getting wet

It was holding me back.  So here I am 9 months later getting to know what my unprocessed mane acts like and let me tell you......this chick has a attitude!!! The main problem is that I refuse to cut the permed ends so the two textures aren't getting along. Then trying to find products that actually work for your hair type is def an adventure. Alhough it hasn't been an easy task I think I finally found some products that agree with my hair.

1) Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo

This is  like washing your hair with silk! It's very important to remember that every one's hair isn't the same and what works for me may not always work for you. Shea Moisture products can be found at Target stores.

2) Silicone Mix Leave in Conditioner

Silicon Mix is a Dominican product but can be found in most beauty supply stores. It really softens my hair and makes it very easy to detangle. If you have trouble finding it at your local beauty supply it can be purchased here

I'm currently rocking a weave until my hair grows a little more but the crown of my head (the top) is out. For styling I've come up with a trifecta which keeps my hair tamed for the whole day.

3) Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie (LOVE!!!)

4) Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel (For a soft hold & shine)

5) Lottabody Olive Oil Foam Wrap
(pretty much does the same thing as the Eco Styler Gel but I just use it for security purposes LOL)

Eco Styler & Lottabody products can be purchased at the BS and as I mentioned earlier Shea Moisture products can be purchased at a Target near you.

My final recommendation is........drum roll please...........YOUTUBE!!!!

Honey YouTube saved my life. There are several young ladies who've been kind enough to share their secrets with us and you should def take advantage of it!!! If you know me you know I hate taking pics but I'll take one soon so you can see what I'm working with.  Hope I've been helpful!

Product Review: Beyond the Zone's Noodle Head...............................

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgJ8nJ_XhsVt993BFdRkjkH6aBdTqahA6ZcQY0FsdwaJp6c3HMfK7v0z0IRGeMTHwpNcC3Yf3YghGQ0OP878zqGJKfWZMjBSILa1l-GNvr9_iVPWh1K0qA3BpJ0XKdfVwGxSVgApgJcvE/s400/noodlehead2.jpg

You may or may not know that I finally made the decision to go natural (yes finally). I'm in no way shape or form even attempting to cut my hair so I'm taking the punk route, weave and transition LOL. I'm hearing that transitioning isn't easy but my head is too big to start from scratch (for real it is!). In my search for curly hair products I bumped into Noodle Head (click on link to purchase) leave in conditioner by Beyond the Zone and I must say, I like it! It's not too heavy, lasts all day and smells really nice. The only thing that may concern you is your hair can get a bit crunchy. It doesn't bother me at all because I like the hold. It's lasted me about 2 wks so for $5.49 it's worth it. If you try it let me know what you think..........
