Hot oil treatments......................................

If you find that your hair is severely damaged and dry you should get into the habit of giving yourself hot oil treatments at least once every two weeks (or once a week depending on how often you wash your hair). Our hair tends to get stripped of it's natural moisture from using too much heat and products which may contain alcohol. A hot oil treatment reverses the damage by sealing and strengthening individual strands of hair. It's quick and easy and you can actually make one yourself using olive oil and heating it for about 30 secs in the microwave. If your scalp is naturally oily you shouldn't leave it in for more than 5 mins and shampoo as usual after.

If you're feeling a bit lazy you can purchase one that will only have to be heated. I remember my Mom using VO5's hot oil treatment in the little tube and she would put in a cup of hot water and the instructions haven't changed. You should be able to find it at your local beauty supply. Of course there are other options if you want to spend a little more but it's not necessary in this case.

Both of these methods can be used on all hair textures. Just be sure to properly shampoo your hair so it's not weighed down by the oil. Take a look at the video below.........

You should see results by your second application, if you don't you may need to see a professional! Good luck : )
